    E-waste management Registration – Overview

    The regulatory body involved in the E-waste Management Registration in India is the Central Pollution Control Board/ State Pollution Control Board. Any person who aims to manufacture, produce, refurbish, dismantle, or recycle e-waste and electronic equipment in India must have a valid e-waste Management Registration Certificate from the State/Center Authority.

    Who Can Apply?

    Any person such as manufacturer, producer, consumer, bulk consumer, dealer, e-retailer, collection centre, re-furbisher, dismantler and recycler of e-waste and electronic equipment can apply for an E-waste certificate.

    How To Apply?

    The Applicant must follow the following process:

        The person who is involved in manufacturing, selling, purchasing, collecting, transferring, storing, and processing E-waste or electronic equipment can apply through the online portal of the CPCB/SPCB. And submit the online application to the Central/State Authorities.

        The E-waste certificate approval can be expected to be thirty working days from the date of application.

    Validity

    The extended producer responsibility E-waste certificate will remain valid for two years from the end of the financial year in which the certificate was issued. And the expired E-waste certificate will automatically lose its validity unless it expires before the provisions of these rules.

    Fee Involved

    The Indian government has outlined a fee structure for e-waste management based on annual recycling volumes. Such as:-
    • The Government charges a specific amount of fees for E-waste certificates; however, it depends upon the quantity of the E-waste generated by the manufacturer or producer.
