The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) organised a large-scale FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) programme for street food vendors in East Delhi. Around 550 vendors participated in the training, which focused on food safety practices, hygiene, safe food handling, and sanitation. The initiative aims to strengthen compliance with food safety standards and support the growth of the street food sector.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) organised a large-scale Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme for street food vendors in the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency as part of its ongoing initiatives to promote safe and hygienic food practices.

- The training programme witnessed participation from around 550 street food vendors from various parts of East Delhi.
- The event was attended by Shri Harsh Malhotra, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways, who appreciated FSSAI’s efforts in strengthening food safety awareness in the unorganised food sector.
- The training sessions covered key topics such as food safety principles, personal hygiene, hygienic food handling, safe water usage, waste management, and maintaining sanitary vending environments.
- The programme also aimed to empower street vendors by improving their understanding of food safety regulations and encouraging compliance.
This initiative forms part of FSSAI’s nationwide efforts to promote safe, clean, and wholesome food while strengthening the street food ecosystem.
