On 17th November 2023, FSSAI issued a notification regarding the re-operationalization of the FSS (Health Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Food for Special Dietary Use, Food for Special Medical Purpose and Prebiotic and Probiotic Food) Regulations, 2022 for 3 months from 1st October 2023 as the finalization of these draft regulations is likely to take more time before being notified.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India announced re-operationalization of the FSS (Health Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Food for Special Dietary Use, Food for Special Medical Purpose and Prebiotic and Probiotic Food) Regulations, 2022 on 17th November 2023. The FSSAI had operationalized the FSS (Health Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Food for Special Dietary Use, Food for Special Medical Purpose and Prebiotic and Probiotic Food) Regulations, 2022 on 29th March 2022. However, on 10th May 2022, a notice was issued by the FSSAI permitting the use of certain additives and enzymes in health supplements. On 18th October 2022, FSSAI issued a notification extending the operationalization of these orders from 1st October 2022. This was again re-operationalized by the FSSAI from 1st April 2023. As the finalization of these draft regulations is likely to take more time, FSSAI has decided to extend the operationalization of this direction for another 3 months from 1st October 2023.
