CDSCO issued a circular directing all State/UT Licensing Authorities to run a 100‑day awareness campaign on the Government’s GST rationalisation for medicines, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, effective 22 September 2025. Offices must display banners, mobilise industry associations, and submit action photographs to CDSCO HQ to ensure the public benefits are widely disseminated.
The circular announces GST rate reductions across healthcare: essential medicines to 5% or Nil, selected cancer drugs now tax‑free, and medical devices/equipment down from 12% to 5%. Spectacles, spectacle lenses and contact lenses drop from 12% to 5%, while medical‑grade oxygen and diagnostic kits are reduced from 12% to 5%.
It also references lower GST for biomedical‑waste treatment services and pharma job‑work. Effective 22.09.2025, CDSCO instructs State/UT Licensing Authorities, pharmacy operators, pharma companies to display banners/posters, encourage manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers (including via associations) to disseminate information, continue the campaign for 100 days, and compile photographs of actions taken for submission to CDSCO HQ.
Hashtags, social posts, and banner/poster text are enclosed with the circular.
