FSSAI has proposed amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020, including bold and larger font size for %RDA declarations of added sugar, saturated fat, and sodium, milk logo specifications, and front-of-pack labeling for Coffee-Chicory Mixture declarations. The draft regulations are open for public feedback before finalization.
The FSSAI has issued a draft notification for the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Amendment Regulations, 2025.
Key changes include:
- Added Sugar, Saturated Fat, and Sodium Content: Information regarding the percentage contribution to the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for added sugar, saturated fat, and sodium must be displayed in bold letters with a larger font size.
- Milk Logo Specifications: All milk and milk products, including composite milk products, as per the FSS (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, are required to display the milk logo in the dimensions outlined in this draft.
- Coffee-Chicory Mixture Declaration on Front of Pack (FOP): Every package containing a coffee and chicory mixture or Instant Coffee-Chicory mixture must state the percentage of coffee and chicory on the front of the pack, as specified in this draft. The draft regulations are open for public feedback before finalization. Objections or suggestions, if any, may be addressed to the CEO, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
