FSSAI requires FBOs to update nominee details in Form IX and inform authorities of any business changes. Failure to comply may result in penalties. From February 12, 2025, FBOs can modify Form IX and Non-Form C details directly in FoSCoS without approval or fees.
The FSSAI has noticed that many Food Business Operators (FBOs) are not updating the details of the Form IX person nominated to ensure compliance with license conditions when they change or leave. As per FSSAI regulations, FBOs are required to notify the Licensing Authority whenever there is a change in the nominated person (Rule 2.5.2) or any changes in their food business (sub-regulation 2.1.9). Non-compliance with these requirements may result in penalties under the Food Safety and Standards Act. From February 12, 2025, FBOs can update the details of Form IX in the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) without needing approval or a fee under Non-Form C modification. FBOs must ensure that the authorities have accurate, up-to-date information regarding their business activities and comply with the relevant regulations.
