New Amendments in Food Safety and Standards (Labelling & Display) Regulations

Official notification was published by FSSAI on 30th November 2022, notifying the new Food Safety and Standards (Labelling & Display) Amendment Regulations, 2022, concerning food labelling and display. It shall be considered after sixty days of the notice being made public.

The new regulations are called Food Safety and Standards (Labelling & Display) Amendment Regulations, 2022, which included the following changes:

1. In sub-regulation (3) of regulation 5 that concerns nutrients on the label, clause b, clause c, and clause d are changed.
2. In regulation 8 clause (1)(b) concerning about logos is added after clause (1)(a)
3. In Chapter 4, regulation 10, the labelling requirement of the non-retail container is changed.
4. In Schedule I, paragraph (1) is changed concerning information about fortified food.
5. In paragraph 1 of Schedule II, stating declarations details, the sub-paragraph (3) and sub-paragraph (4) are changed.
6. Wherever pregnant and lactating mothers appear, they should be changed to pregnant or lactating women.

The draft regulations shall be considered after sixty days from the date on which copies of the Gazette are made available to the public. Check the official notification to know the details about the mentioned changes.
