The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued an order directing all FSSAI notified food testing laboratories to strictly comply with the Food Safety and Standards Recognition and Notification of Laboratories Regulations 2018. The order emphasizes timely upload of test reports on the InFoLNet portal adherence to prescribed test methods and compliance with approved test report formats.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued an order dated 12 February 2026 directing all FSSAI notified food testing laboratories to comply with the obligations prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Recognition and Notification of Laboratories Regulations 2018.
These obligations are mandatory for laboratories notified under section 43 subsections 1 and 2 of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.The order highlights that several notified laboratories have been found non compliant with Regulation 9 relating to the obligations of food laboratories.
In view of this observation all FSSAI notified laboratories have been instructed to follow specific compliance measures.
- Upload test reports of all food samples on the InFoLNet portal without delay and maintain real time accurate laboratory profiles
- Adhere strictly to validated and prescribed test methods within the scope of NABL accreditation
- Follow the prescribed test report format without deviation
The order also states that continued non compliance may result in appropriate regulatory action under the FSS Act and related rules and regulations.
