Data must be updated on FoSCoS/FoSCoRIS by 31 March 2026.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a directive for a Special Festive Drive (Holi Anti-Adulteration Drive 2026) to strengthen food safety surveillance during the upcoming Holi festival.
Recognising the surge in demand for sweets, savouries, milk and milk products (ghee, khoa, paneer), edible oils, cereals, and related food items, FSSAI has highlighted the increased risk of adulteration during this period.
Key points include:
- State/UT enforcement authorities have been instructed to conduct focused inspections and sampling in identified hotspots and sensitive locations.
- Additionally, Food Safety on Wheels (FSWs) are to be strategically deployed for on-the-spot testing, awareness generation, and consumer confidence building.
- All inspection and sampling data must be mandatorily updated on FoSCoS/FoSCoRIS by 31 March 2026.
The directive emphasises public health protection and strict enforcement during the festive season.
