Reduction of Initial Application Fee for New FSSAI Licenses

An official notification was issued by FSSAI on 10th February 2023 regarding the reduction of the initial application fee for the FSSAI license to Rs 1000 plus GST, as applicable.

The notification notifies the following:

1. Food Authorities have reduced the initial application fees for FSSAI license to Rs 1000 plus GST as applicable to promote new businesses and startups.
2. Once the concerning licensing authorities scrutinise the application, the differential amount of the license fee shall be collected from the FBO before granting them an FSSAI license. The differential amount of the license fee is the total applicable license fee minus Rs 1000, which is already paid as the initial application fee. GST, as applicable for differential amounts, is also added.
3. The differential amount of the license fee must be submitted by the FBO within 30 days to get the license. If they fail, the license application will be rejected.
4. It also clarifies that the total license fee is exactly the same but is only bifurcated as initial application fees and differential amounts.
5. It applies only to applications for new licenses submitted on or after 10th February 2023.
