FSSAI has launched a Comprehensive Online Training Programme on Food Safety Risk Assessment along with a dedicated digital training portal, in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO). The programme aims to strengthen India’s science-based food regulatory framework through structured training modules covering dietary exposure assessment, microbiological risk assessment, antimicrobial resistance, and toxicology, aligned with international principles and national regulatory needs.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) launched a Comprehensive Online Training Programme on Food Safety Risk Assessment, marking a major step toward strengthening India’s science-based food regulatory ecosystem.
Jointly developed with the World Health Organization (WHO), the first-of-its-kind pilot programme offers a structured curriculum ranging from basic to advanced levels, aligned with international risk analysis principles and tailored to Indian regulatory requirements.
Key points include:
- A key component is Dietary Exposure Assessment, developed with WHO’s technical support and delivered by experts from JECFA, JEMRA, and JMPR, linking hazard data with India-specific consumption patterns.
- Additional modules cover Microbiological Risk Assessment, Antimicrobial Resistance, and Toxicology, delivered by Indian and international experts.
- Initially targeted at FSSAI headquarters officers, the programme will later extend to regional offices and state authorities.
- The newly launched digital portal will serve as a long-term institutional platform for continuous learning, reinforcing regulatory credibility and consumer confidence.
