The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched a special festive drive during September to October 2025 to prevent adulteration and ensure food safety in sweets, savouries, and milk products like ghee, khoa, and paneer. States/UTs and Regional Directors are directed to conduct focused surveillance in sensitive locations, use Food Safety on Wheels (FSWs) for on-the-spot testing, and update inspection data on FoSCoS/FoSCoRIS by 15th November 2025.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a directive initiating a special festive drive to safeguard public health during the high-demand season of September to October 2025.
Key points include:
- With increased consumption of sweets, savouries, and milk-based products such as ghee, khoa, and paneer, risks of adulteration and compromised quality rise significantly.
- To counter this, FSSAI has instructed State/UT Food Safety Commissioners and Regional Directors to conduct surveillance and enforcement drives, particularly in hot spots and sensitive markets.
- The notice also emphasises strategic deployment of Food Safety on Wheels (FSWs) for rapid, on-the-spot testing, consumer awareness, and stronger vigilance.
- Authorities must record all inspection and sampling data on FoSCoS/FoSCoRIS and submit outcomes by 15th November 2025.
This initiative aims to maintain consumer trust, curb malpractice, and ensure safe and high-quality food during the festive season.
