Draft Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2025

The FSSAI has drafted the Vegan Foods Amendment Regulations, 2025, requiring vegan food imports to have a certificate from the exporting country’s recognized authority, as per Form-I. The format of Form-I is also specified in the draft. Objections or suggestions, if any, can be submitted to the FSSAI CEO.


FSSAI has published the draft Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2025. This draft introduces changes to sub-regulation 3 of regulation 5 regarding vegan food compliance. According to the revised regulation, no vegan food products can be imported without a certificate issued by the recognized authorities of the exporting country, as outlined in Form-I of the FSS (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2025 draft regulation. Additionally, the FSSAI has specified the format for the certificate (Form-I) to be issued by the recognized authority of the exporting country. The draft regulations are open for public feedback before finalization. Objections or suggestions, if any, may be addressed to the CEO, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
