Final FSS (Prohibition and Restrictions on sales) amendment Regulations, 2026 relating to omission of provision of restriction on salseed fat
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has notified the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Amendment Regulations, 2026. The amendment omits Clause (8) of Regulation 2.3.14 under the existing regulations and forms part of FSSAI's efforts to streamline and update the food regulatory framework. The amendment has been published in the Gazette and will take effect as specified in the final notification.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Amendment Regulations, 2026, introducing amendments to the existing framework governing restrictions and prohibitions on the sale of specified food products.
Key points include:
- Clause (8) of Regulation 2.3.14 under the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011 has been omitted.
- This omission of the provision from the existing regulations reflects FSSAI’s continuing efforts to align regulatory requirements with current food safety standards and industry practices.
- Food Business Operators (FBOs), manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers dealing with affected food categories should review the final notification and assess any impact on product compliance, labelling, sale, distribution, and regulatory obligations.
