Implementation of revision in Maximum Retail Price (MRP) due to reduction in Goods and Service Tax (GST) Rates- Revised Direction

NPPA has updated its earlier Official Memorandum (12.09.2025) regarding MRP revision following GST rate cuts. Manufacturers/marketers must issue revised or supplementary price lists (Form V/VI) to dealers, retailers (for consumer display), State Drug Controllers and the Government. Re-labelling/re-stickering remains optional and may be phased to avoid shortages. CDSCO directions under Rule 104A continue to apply.

On 13 September 2025, NPPA issued a revised Office Memorandum modifying directions from its earlier OM dated 12 September 2025. All manufacturers and marketing companies of drugs/formulations (including medical devices) must issue revised or supplementary price lists in Form V/VI to dealers, retailers (for consumer display), State Drug Controllers, and the Government, reflecting the revised GST rates and MRPs effective from 22 September 2025. NPPA reiterated that re-labelling or re-stickering of existing stock is not mandatory but may be carried out in a phased manner to prevent shortages. CDSCO’s directions under Rule 104A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, issued on 11 September 2025, remain applicable.
