Renewal of the License and Registrations for the Food Businesses

A notification was issued on 11 January 2023 by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, notifying the details regarding the renewal of the license and registration for the food business.

The notification was issued for food business operators and notified the following things:

1. All renewals for the license and registration will be granted instantly without requiring the need for approval by the concerned authorities.
2. The validity of the renewal of the license will be one year.
3. The validity of the renewal of the registration will be 1 to 5 years based on the selection and payment by the FBOs.
4. FBOs whose licenses and registration are cancelled or suspended are not allowed for renewal.
5. FBOs should file annual returns with penalties before renewal.
6. FBOs should make a declaration by ticking the checkbox regarding compliance with all permission and rules for the food business and its premise. It should also mention that the premise doesn't possess more than one license for any other food business. FBOs are advised to apply for renewals as early as possible and check the official notification before applying.
