Stickering on Medical Products due to reduction in Goods Service Tax (GST) rate

CDSCO has permitted importers and manufacturers of Class C and D medical devices to affix stickers reflecting revised MRPs following GST rate reductions. The order dated 11‑Sep‑2025 allows a three‑month window from the order date. State/UT Drugs Controllers have been asked to expedite NOCs for label alteration to implement the GST change effective 22‑Sep‑2025 under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

Following the Government’s rationalization of GST rates on drugs and formulations effective 22‑Sep‑2025, CDSCO issued an Order (F. No. DC‑DT‑15011(11)/122/2025) permitting importers and manufacturers of Class C & D medical devices to affix stickers indicating revised MRPs. The permission applies for three months from 11‑Sep‑2025 and is under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and rules thereunder. A companion communication to States/UTs Drugs Controllers requests expedited issuance of no‑objection for label alteration (stickering) to ensure timely GST implementation. Stakeholders - especially Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Packaging/Labeling, and Supply Chain - should align inventory control, maintain documentary evidence of approvals/NOCs, and ensure that the revised MRPs reflect the reduced GST to demonstrate compliance during inspections and market surveillance.
