The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has published a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the migration to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023. The key highlights are as follows: 1. Existing licence numbers (R-Nos.) will continue unchanged following successful migration to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023. 2. Products certified under IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 must display the BIS Standard Mark and comply with the applicable BIS labelling and marking requirements. 3. Testing under IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 can be conducted through BIS-recognized laboratories, which are listed on the BIS LIMS portal.
The key highlights are as follows:
- Existing Licence Continuity: Existing BIS licence numbers (R-Nos.) will remain unchanged after successful migration to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023.
- Marking Requirements: Products certified under IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 must bear the BIS Standard Mark and comply with all applicable BIS labelling and marking requirements.
- Testing Requirements: Testing for compliance with IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 can be conducted through BIS-recognized laboratories listed on the BIS LIMS portal.
- Renewal of Existing Standards: Renewal under IS 13252 (Part 1):2010 and IS 616:2017 will continue to be permitted until 01 November 2028.
- Migration Guidelines: BIS has issued the Guidelines for Implementation of Migration to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 dated 09 March 2026.
- Migration Fee: No fee is applicable for migration of already registered models when applying through the Standard Revision provision.
