Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on application for vegan logo endorsement

Official notification was issued by the FSSAI regarding frequently asked questions and answers relating to the application for vegan logo endorsement.

It clarifies the following:

1. Which products are not applicable for vegan endorsements - such as raw agricultural commodities that are vegan by default.
2. FBO should apply for multiple applications for different products from the same firm and flavour variants of the same product (Ex: Flavoured plant-based drink in 4 different flavours (Chocolate Flavor, strawberry Flavor, orange Flavor etc.
3. Payment mode for vegan endorsements would be online.
4. Multiple stock-keeping units (SKUs) of the same product are not required to be applied for endorsement.
5. Application for vegan endorsements is required when the product ingredients/additives processing aids etc. are changed but is not required when when the change in quantities of the same.
6. Retailer/marketer having multiple manufacturing units must apply for vegan endorsement for each unit.
7. Vegan logo endorsement application hard copy to be submitted to Advisor (Science and standards), FSSAI, FDA Bhawan, New, Delhi-110002 and soft copy to be sent to email –id vegan-foods@fssai.gov.in
8. If the product is approved, the FBO must submit the approval letter (Form-B) to the concerned Licensing Authority through FOSOCS for endorsement of the vegan logo on the product applied.
