Government Proposes Inclusion of Four Additional Drugs in Schedule H1

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has published draft rules proposing further amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945, under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

1. Proposes the inclusion of four additional drugs in Schedule H1 of the Drugs Rules, 1945.
2. The proposed additions are Flupentixol, Zopiclone, Gabapentin and Carisoprodol.
3. The four drugs would be inserted after the existing serial number 52 and related entries in Schedule H1.
4. The draft rules have been issued following consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board.
5. The Central Government has invited objections and suggestions from persons likely to be affected by the proposed amendment.
6. Objections and suggestions may be submitted within 30 days from the date the Gazette containing the draft rules is made available to the public.
