The Ministry of Heavy Industries has issued an amendment to the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety Regulation. The updated order shifts the enforcement date to 1st September 2026 for listed machinery and electrical items. Assemblies and components will be covered later, as notified separately. This change offers manufacturers more time to align with safety standards and regulatory expectations.
On 12th June 2025, the Ministry of Heavy Industries released an amendment to the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024.
The revised directive sets 1st September 2026 as the new date for enforcement of safety standards for machinery and electrical equipment listed in the First Schedule.
The amendment also clarifies that assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components mentioned in the same schedule will be brought under compliance from a separate date, which will be announced later through the Official Gazette.
This regulatory update is aimed at providing industry stakeholders with a more realistic timeline to ensure full compliance, thereby enhancing public safety and operational readiness.
