The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has implemented a standardised format for submitting representations seeking risk assessment. All submissions must be made exclusively through the NSC portal. The initiative aims to improve data quality, transparency, and efficient evaluation by Scientific Panels and the Scientific Committee in line with FSSAI’s scientific procedures and regulations.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced a mandatory standardised format for submission of representations seeking risk assessment.
Key points include:
- From 1 January 2026, all representations must be submitted only through the NSC portal (https://nsc.fssai.gov.in/) under the “Submit Representation” section.
- The standardised format aligns with the FSSAI (Transaction of Business and Procedure for the Scientific Committee and Scientific Panel) Regulations, 2016, enabling systematic risk assessment, transparency, and efficient tracking.
- FSSAI has also encouraged Food Business Operators (FBOs), industry associations, research institutions, professionals, and citizens to voluntarily share scientific, monitoring, and R&D data relevant to food safety and nutrition.
- All submissions will be treated as confidential and used solely for scientific evaluation, standard-setting, and policy development.
