The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a draft notification proposing revised testing and analysis fees under Schedule B and Schedule B(1) of the Drugs Rules, 1945. The revision covers fees charged by Central/State Drugs Laboratories and PLIM. An annual automatic increase of 5% in testing charges has also been proposed. Stakeholders may submit objections within 30 days.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, through draft notification G.S.R. 52(E) dated 22 January 2026, has proposed amendments to Schedule B and Schedule B(1) of the Drugs Rules, 1945 under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
The notification revises fees for testing and analysis conducted by Central Drugs Laboratories, State Drugs Laboratories, and the Pharmacopoeial Laboratory for Indian Medicine (PLIM). The revised fee structure covers animal-based assays, microbiological tests, identification tests, physical tests, assays, sera and vaccines testing, homeopathic and herbal medicines, and other specialized laboratory analyses.
Additionally, the notification proposes an automatic annual increase of 5% in prescribed testing charges. Stakeholders are invited to submit objections and suggestions within 30 days from the date of publication before finalization of the amendment.
