The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has approved a one-time 50% increase in the ceiling prices of Anti-Tetanus Immunoglobulin 250 IU and 500 IU formulations. The revision was made under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 to address rising production costs, import-dependent raw material expenses, and supply concerns, ensuring continued availability of this essential life-saving medicine.
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the ceiling prices of Anti-Tetanus Immunoglobulin 250 IU and 500 IU formulations by allowing a one-time increase of 50% under Paragraph 19 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. The decision follows a review application and an assessment of increasing production costs, higher prices of imported active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), exchange rate fluctuations, and concerns regarding the financial viability of manufacturing the product.
The revised ceiling prices have been fixed at Rs. 1,912.02 per vial for Anti-Tetanus Immunoglobulin 250 IU and Rs. 2,881.19 per vial for Anti-Tetanus Immunoglobulin 500 IU.
Key requirements include:
- Compliance with the revised ceiling prices by manufacturers.
- Submission of updated price lists to NPPA and regulatory authorities.
- Quarterly reporting of production, import, and sales information.
- Prior approval for new drug launches under DPCO provisions.
The revision aims to support sustainable production, prevent supply disruptions, and maintain patient access to this critical medicine.
