This specification applies to quantitative instruments that measure alcohol concentration in exhaled human breath for compliance, prevention of alcohol abuse, and public safety. These analysers must include features such as preventing incomplete results, mandatory printing devices, disabling operation without paper, and providing additional printed details. Results should be expressed in terms beyond breath alcohol content, such as physiological conditions.
The specification outlines minimum metrological requirements and tests for model approval, initial verification, and re-verification, limited to analysers using mouthpieces.
