Tin Ingot (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025

The Ministry of Mines has issued the Tin Ingot (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025, mandating that all tin ingots conform to Indian Standard IS 26:2024. As per the order tin ingots must bear the Standard Mark from the Bureau of Indian Standards and be certified under Scheme-I of BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018. This order comes into force from 17 April 2026.


The Ministry of Mines, in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, has issued the Tin Ingot (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025 under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

Key points include:

  1. The Order will come into force from 17 April 2026.
  2. It applies specifically to tin ingots, excluding goods or articles that are intended for export.
  3. Tin ingots are required to conform to the Indian Standard IS 26:2024 and must bear the Standard Mark.
