Permission to the manufacturers or packers or importers of pre-packaged commodities to declare the revised retail sale price MRP on the unsold stock -Change in GST rates of Goods Services – reg.

The Central government permits the Manufacturer or Importer or Packer to declare the revised MRP on the unsold stock prior to the revision of GST. The corrected MRP as per the implementation of GST can be mentioned by stamping or putting sticker or online printing without overwriting the original MRP.

Manufacturers, importers, or packers must declare the revised Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on unsold stock following changes in GST rates, by including the applicable increase or reduction in tax. This revised MRP must be displayed alongside the original price—without overwriting it—using a stamp, sticker, or online printing. This provision is valid until 31st December 2025 or until the stock is exhausted, whichever comes first. Additionally, at least two public advertisements must be issued in one or more newspapers, and formal notifications must be circulated to dealers, the Director of Legal Metrology (Central Government), and Controllers of Legal Metrology in all States and Union Territories, clearly indicating the revised pricing. These steps ensure transparency and compliance with the Legal Metrology and GST regulations.
