In the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024, Paragraph 1, sub-paragraph (2), the phrase “after one year from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette”, shall now be replaced with “from such date as may be notified by the Central Government in the Official Gazette.”
The Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Second Amendment Order, 2025, has been issued and will take effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette. This amendment modifies Paragraph 1(2) of the original 2024 Order.
Previously, the compliance timeline stated “after one year from the date of its publication,” which was later changed to “on the 1st September, 2026” through the first amendment in 2025. Under the new amendment, this phrase is now replaced with “from such date as may be notified by the Central Government in the Official Gazette.”
This change provides flexibility, allowing the government to determine and announce the effective date later, rather than fixing a specific timeline in advance.
